On Thursday 9 June 2022, I introduced this motion:

That this House —

(1) notes that —

(a) Victorian renters are more likely to live in homes that are older, less energy efficient and harder to keep warm in the winter;
(b) renters already spend about eight per cent more on their energy bills than homeowners and with gas and electricity prices skyrocketing are likely to be hit with hefty bills this winter;

(2) reminds the Government that they said they will introduce new minimum standards for ceiling insulation, draught proofing and hot water in rental properties sometime this year; and

(3) calls on the Government to implement energy efficiency minimum standards as soon as possible so renters do not have to choose between keeping their homes warm and paying the rent.
